for the second time in less than a month, registered nurses affiliated with a st. louis area hospital have overwhelmingly approved an agreement to join forces with a bargaining agent representing caregivers across the country.

nurses at des peres hospital agreed to align with national nurses united by a 2-1 margin, according to a release issued monday by the union.
headquartered in suburban washington d.c., the organization represents 13,000 nurses at 30 hospitals in ten states.
the union will bargain on behalf of 250 registered nurses at des peres, where the vote was 110-60.

barbara johnson, a registered nurse at des peres, called the organizing effort “long overdue.”
the affiliation will provide the hospital's nurses with a “voice to advocate for our patients and our profession in the st. louis area,” johnson said in a statement released by the union. ...
