Where are the CNA schools in the Bay Area?

I'm doing the same thing. Taking pre-reqs at COM for a nursing program, but looking into CNA programs in the meantime. What have you heard about NCP?

I live in Oakland, and the NCP program is the only one I've been able to find in the immediate area. But I was also wondering what other options were out there. I agree that the JC programs are way too long, so I haven't been researching those. Santa Rosa Red Cross also sounds like a good option. Good luck with everything!

I thought for NCP you already had to have your CNA and they just did the Acute CNA cert? I found "the cornerstone college" CNA program through a google search... it's 19 days/$900 in Hayward. Has anyone heard anything about them?

NCP has both...a Nurse Assistant Training Program (CNA) as well as a CNA Acute Care Training Program.

cornerstone college in hayward i heard is great school! my cousin's friend graduated the program in 19 days and just took it the state exam last weekend and she passed with flying colors. at first i couldn't believe that someone can learn everything in 19 days and pass the certification. but i'm a true believer. it's 19 days for about $900, i think it's worth it. i thinking to enroll in that school. thank you.

I'm in the middle of the class right now. (I should actually be in asleep now because I have to wake up at 5:30 to make it to the 7am "clinical" portion. =P) So far I have to say that I love the teacher, but the facility that we are at now is just a bunch of BULL ****. While there are CNA's working there that really care about the residents, some are down right abusive. Cornerstone is currently working on finding and having a new facility approved by the state. But as far as the instruction goes, the small class size makes it fun and my teacher definitely takes the time to talk with each of us and help us work on the skills we need to practice. Only 9 more days to go !

I just signed up for the Nurse Aid/Home Health Aid course at Santa Rosa JC over the Summer. Its about 9 weeks, 5 days/week. I'm really excited!! I'm hoping I'll finally be able to do some work in the field while I'm waiting to get into nursing school.

The program is full for the Summer, but they offer it during the school year too.
