Should i take the cna course, since i might b pregnant??

Hello everyone,

Well i live in North Hollywood,CA and was planning on taking a 9 week cna course but i might be pregnant!
Im now wondering if this would interfere with me taking the course since by the time it begins i should be on my 4th month. Will it be too much for me??? Anybody have more info about what to expect from the class?? I really want to take the course since im taking my pre reqs for nursing school to get a better feel about what to expect!
Anything is helpful since Nov. 5 is the day to go sign up!!

Unless you find yourself suffering from severe morning sickness (which is generally but not always) over by the end of the first trimester, or have other complications, I don't see any issue with taking a 9 week CNA training. I assume you're in good health now and bending and lifting aren't problems. You will be required to transfer patients during clinicals, that would be the only concern I might have. If it's an issue you might be able to work with your instructor and facility to make sure you aren't transferring the very large patients. This is not medical advice. This is just my opinion. Obviously, if you are pregnant you should refer any concerns to your practitioner.

Congratulations! I did my CNA training while 6 months pregnant. My instructor paired me with the smallest lady in class for our lab and also gave me more mobile residents for our clinicals. I was still able to practice transfers with good body mechanics and I made sure to have someone close by when doing them just in case I felt I was carrying too much weight. I avoided getting my state certification while pregnant because I didn't want to lift the dead weight of the evaluator. They will probably be willing to accommodate your situation but you could call the place where the class is held and talk to the instructors just to be sure. Good Luck!
