Really disliking my job

I need to vent
Yesterday was the worst day at work ever..
I had 10 patients about 5+ were completes
I had about 6 f/c
I had two patients 200+ lbs
and i got almost no help!
The other cna's side was even worst
I can't do this anymore
I can't bust my butt all day and leave with an aching back

I love my job I love helping people but it isn't fair TO ME or the patients
I can't spend the time I want/need to spend with them
I am so stressed out I feel like I am going to burn myself out and only 20

I am really thinking about going somewhere else.. not a hospital don't want to give TOO much info but it will be much better I can't take this anymore.. the nurses are too damn dependent on the CNA's they never help turn ever
even when nurses are complained about nothing is done!
AHHH so frustrated

Hoping to get into a nursing program..
when I do I will NEVER forget that I am supposed to do bedside care!

Thanks!
I may decide to try to transfer to a different floor at my hospital.. but if not and i decide to work at this other facility the resident to cna ratio is
1:3 or 4 IF they are dependent
and 1:6 if they can do more on their own
And you get to bowl with them swim do a lot of activities..

I hate feeling like you are cheating your patients due to low staffing It is a horrible feeling...
I remember having 13 residents, 6 of whom were two person transfers, and having no help transferring. Stressful!

OMG! I know exactly how you feel. I had a job at a place like that. It was a typical day. I would have 14 residents, 4 showers 6 feeders, 4 hoyers, 10 completes. Everyday was a day from hell! No help from the other CNA's because they were too busy, and nurses flat out refused to help feed or turn a resident. It was horrible. Everyday I would come home, and my body would hurt so much. I would just lay in bed the rest of the night in preparation for the next day of hell. If it wasn't for the fact I loved my job and cared for the residents I probably wouldn't have made it. The pay was lousy and my body hurt.

When I got pregnant, I had to leave when I was 5 months. I would get horrible contraction types of pain when I had a heavy day (which was everyday). So my doctor recommended I leave until after I had my baby. I decided to work the majority of my time doing home health right now. I just can't put my body through that again just yet. Sometimes you need a change. That is why I do per diem at an LTC and Home health. It keeps me from getting burned out. I don't plan on being a cna forever either. I plan on enrolling in a RN program that starts this Fall. Wish me luck.

Good luck asun21ta!
I know its tough but remember the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
I hated my job just a few months ago when I started for reasons like yours. But I stuck it out, changed my shift and I just had one of the best days EVER!
No one can tell another what to do and only you know if you truly can't do it any longer but keep in mind its a bad economy, not the best time to go quitting a job. You can't land an amazing cna job (they are out there, lol ) without some exp ie proof you can handle the worst of the worst. Great references in a bad economy are a must. I read somewhere that for every job in this country there are like 5 to 10 applicants. Every job including fast food and retail. In our area being a cna alone isn't enough to get a job anymore though it used to be. If you do want to quit make sure you get another job, first. Okay I'm on a roll here but I do not want to see anyone, myself included I almost made it, quit a job because of a bad day. I had one coworker who had been there forever and ever, she was sure she wanted to quit, told us all so. One day off she reflected and decided to stay.

Thanks for everyones comments!
And good luck getting into the RN program
I also applied and will find out in about two months if I get in.. sooo I really hope i do!

I totally know what you mean that's what I was thinking about too
I can't quit if I don't get another job
I think it may get worse because in a couple of weeks we are getting even more patients so I really hope the manager assigns more cna's

I am a new cna and will be 50 in June! I just found this amazing site and love love it... I will be looking for a job and need to know where to start, for one I want to be able to handle the work load without getting a bad back from it... Is home health and cna the same rate of pay? and is there a special area of interest in this field such as rom therapy that would be better for someone like myself?
