NYC CNA's

Hello to all. I am from the Bronx beginning my CNA classes in May. I am going to New Age Training. Its on 8th Ave between 35th and 36th. They have reasonable fees and also offer a flexible schedule. Full time days, nights, weekends classes. They also offer a combination CNA+PCT class for about $2400 I believe. Its 8 weeks long if you go fulltime. I also would like to let all of you prospective CNA's know that,depending on your family size, if you make less that 56,000 a year, you may be eligible for a grant from Workforce 1 that will cover your costs for up to $3,800. Contact your local office for more details. Its not hard to get at all. They just want you to take a few short classes and do some research and you can qualify for the grant. Also the Manhattan Educational Opportunity Center also offers free classes for low income students. You have to take a TABE test and some interviews. They have a test date coming up for April 17th, so jump on it if you can. The Manhattan Educational Opportunity Center They have summer classes starting in June. Good luck to you all and hope to see you in the field soon. Oh and by the way, dont expect to land that awesome job at first. If you have to go through agency or LTC then so be it. Its hard getting a job in healthcare when you have no experience so just be thankful if you get in somewhere. Work your way from the bottom up and it will be worth it. Once you get some experience, it will be much easier. Just be patient. Good things come to those who wait.

Hello everyone. I'm from the Bronx and am considering taking a CNA job to get me through LPN school which starts in September. It seems like a quick way to get experience in the field. I was even more intrigued when a friend told me starting pay was $15, but when I look around, all I am seeing is $12. If it's $12, then I will probably just keep the job I have now and not spend $1200 on the class. I made a post about this earlier today but so far no one has answered. So I was hoping that maybe you guys can tell me what your knowledge of the CNA salary is in our area.
