no new admits after State Inspection

Hi All, The LTC facility where I work was sited with 4 G-tags by state. Although they reinspected 60 days later, we still failed those 4 things. It sounds as though we will no longer be allowed new admits. So as our resident population moves away or dies, the facility will slowly empty out. Do you know if this is for a limited time, or is it a slow shutdown of a facility when this happens?

I was already thinking of changing jobs, but wanted to wait until the fall semester is behind me. Now I'm concerned that if I don't move it, I may end up searching for work with other laid off CNA's.

If you were in my shoes, what would you do? Thanks.

If you were already thinking about looking for a different job, if it were me, I would do it now. Personally, I would rather find a job over the summer than during the school year and before they start cutting staff. Just some input. Do what you feel is best.

This may be a good time to begin exploring other options. Maybe the place will be sold to new owners that will clean up things, but, in the meantime, see what else is out there. Good luck.

Hi All, Thanks for your advice. I have started putting in applications at one place each day. I'll start classes on Tuesday, so I'll have less time for job hunting, but hopefully something will pan out soon. There's no word (yet) of any new owners. I also heard that we have lost all funding from Medicare and Medicaid, which means that 95% of our residents are living there for free right now. I am trying not to freak out too much, but I don't think the money will hold out for long.
