It helps to order your book for class in advance & go over it so you have a "heads up" by the time your class starts. Take your own notes & review them every chance you get. When you get to the skills portion of your class, it helps to practice them at home on your family because it will help you to get better at performing them Good luck

i'm starting in the fall! I also feel to do as much research as possible! Also have a strong career path written down. (Do you want to be a nurse, how long, what other fields would you like to get into?
I find this important because you can take additional certifications at colleges to add to your nursing career. just a thought! Good lucK!

Did anyone have to take the TABE test to get federal funding? My course is being paid for thru the WIA program, and they require that I at least have a 4th to 6th grade score on reading and math.

Do research as others have said, but DON'T buy any supplies until you've been directly told what you need or given a list. Some programs require very specific things.

Beyond that, read around this forum. You'll get an idea of the good and bad that goes with both being a CNA and being a student.

Hi!!
I'm a newbie too!!! I start my CNA class at the end of March. I have already completed my pre-req's, so I will apply to the LVN program in the fall. I have been poking around here reading up on peoples experiences, which I find very helpful!! I kind of know what I'm getting myself into, but it's been years since I've been in the care field.
So Thank you for starting this thread!! I look forward to reading more about other's experiences.
