I can't work in LTC

Your best bet would be to try a hospital. LTC isn't for everyone And its always good employment advice in any profession to make sure you leave on good terms. A great reference from the LTC could guarantee you the job at the hospital. Or theres even home care Good luck

I just finished working four months in an LTC. I did not like it at all. Prior to the LTC, I worked in a hospital for 2 years. I wish that I had stayed in the hospital. The work is very different in the hospital. There is not as much ambulation. However, patients must still be turned every 2 hours. In the hospital you get to see what nurses really do. I was able to witness and help out with some procedures. In the LTC you don't get to see much of that. When the residents are sick, they are sent out to the hospital. You would probably do much better in the hospital setting. I hope this helps.

No matter where you work, YOU'RE ALWAYS GOING TO HAVE TO DO LIFTING AND TURN PATIENTS.....Nurse or aide, it's going to happen....Don't get discouraged, it takes time and practice....Before you know it, you'll be an expert at lifting and turning patients....I too had a hard time, but it took months to master it, and now I can turn and lift like no tomorrow....Of course there are patients that I can't turn, but that's why there's help....

Don't give up on being a Nurses Aide, and as someone suggested, maybe it would be better for you to enter the hospital world....I know some hospitals do have lifting teams to do the work for you...

I've worked both in the hospital and long term care, and although I love the older generation, I'm enjoying myself in the hospital too.

hospital is way better than LTC (in my opinion)... maybe try OB and see if u like it?
