How to leave work at work..

I start my cna class next week and I am starting to get nervous. I use to work as a CNA and while it's been my favourite job, by far, (even better then lazy office work..)... I do remember very stressful days on the job.
Now that I am married with a baby, I reallllllly don't want to take it home.
How do you leave the stress at your doorstep? I only plan on working 2-3 days a week after i get my certification.. I know that will help.. BUT.. the potential stress still worries me.
How do you deal with those days?

I ALWAYS leave stress at work. When my shift is over, it is OVER. To bring it home would only ruin the rest of my night!!! If you simply can not just leave it behind, I'd suggest a hobby, or better yet, exercise to blow off steam!!!

I agree! Find a hobby, even if it's just playtime with your baby. For instance... I watch/feed the birds in my yard (for a few years now, even before I worked as a PCT) & it helps to shake even the worst nights very quickly. I don't have a long commute either, I'm only a few blocks away which means no real downtime from doorstep to doorstep. So I usually head straight to the backyard. I find it hard to be moody/stressed when I have beautiful cardinals & such coming to the yard to eat. Good luck w/your class!

I donno if this helps but this is how I deal with stress from work and stop it from coming home. If I am really stressed out at work and there someone I want to yell at or b*tch at but I can't then I will get in my car and on the ride home I will talk out loud to myself imagining that the person is there (yeah I know it sounds crazy but it really helps) I will yell and cuss and all that stuff if I need to and I won't get out of the car once I get home until I am finished what I need to say (usually its only a matter of a minute or so because I don't feel like sitting in my car in the driveway) and once I step out of the car I promise myself I won't say another word about it and not even think about it. I don't bring up work in conversations and if anyone asks about work I just focus on the positives so I don't end up highlighting the negative parts and go into a rant. But that's just me...

And can I just say that I LOVE MY JOB!!!
