I just wanted to share this with you guys. Today was my first day of clinicals. It was just so wonderful I can't wait to go back tomorrow. My preceptor was really nice. The residents were so gosh darnit cute and adorable. One lady would sit in the hallway all day long just screaming and complaining. So myself and another student went to her and she said she had to go to the bathroom really bad. We helped her on the commode and she did #2 and was just thanking us the whole time. Needless to say she had diarehha (however you spell it), so she ended up pooping on the floor and her clothes.

That ended up being a bit messy, but she felt so good afterwards.
In the dinning room they played oldies songs. They played some Issac Hayes and this one woman was just "oohhing" and "ahhiing" and twitching to the song. I thought she was about to have an orgasm. I met the "princess" of the floor. We changed her diaper, then she said she wanted the yellow one, so we changed it again. She wanted to be positioned at a certain angle and we had to do it a couple times to get it right. She was very picky about everything. She even wanted us to shave her nether regions, but we were unable to. I tried not to laugh the whole time. Then I go into the hallway and the first woman is still screaming. So I sit with her and talk to her. Show her some pictures in my phone, took a couple of her so she could see herself. I even read a book to her and she loved it. She just wanted some company. Then I went to feed a woman and she just kept asking me to put whisky in her drink. I laughed and told her I couldn't.
Theres so much more I could say, but the job is amazing. Its disgusting, exhausting, frustrating, but worth every single moment to be with those residents. I just wanted to tear up with the amount of love and compassion I felt for them.

I think if you go in there knowing what to expect, you find that it isn't so bad afterall. I love it and I know this is where I want to be.
