First Day of Clinical

by It's_Me

Our first day on the floor was last night. How in the world do they do everything in one shift? Our job was mostly to help the CNA's and get to know the residents. They were so helpful, explaining how each procedure went and where to get supplies, and we helped out with passing trays and feeding.

Thank God for the veterans, the CNA's who have been there for years, they were the greatest! They make it look so easy, lol! I want to be like them when I grow up.

Default Re: First Day of Clinical
Everyone goes through that. In clinicals, we only had to care for a couple of residents. No one in class could imagine taking care of 10-15.

The secret, as you will find out, is that no one does all the cares that you're supposed to do. It is physcially impossible to have 10-15 residents and get showers for a percentage of them, do nail care, oral care, hair care, and handle all the transferring, toileting, and peri-care that needs to be constantly done.

I NEVER, and I mean NEVER, saw anyone actually do oral care on a daily basis for residents. That includes me. No time for it.
