CNA- What questions should I ask?

I took mine through a school but if you want to call nursing homes ask them how long the program is, if there is a cost or you have to sign a contract to work there. How long is the classroom portion and how long is the clinical/training period? Do you have to buy your own books and pay your own test fee or do they take care of that?

Ask for the STNA Training Program Coordinator
Ask about dates/times of class
Any fess assoicated with the training
Require scrubs, equipment
Testing location for your State exam
Teacher knowledge in experience
Asked if you can come in review the nursing home or training center to "kind of get a feel for the place" where you can ask others about there experience, etc

I got my CNA through the facility I work at.
When hired we went to 2 days of classes, then went on the floor for 2 months. Then you went back to class 5 days a week (where you didn't work the floor) for 2 weeks. Then you went and tested. The facility pays for everything and you don't have to agree to work there after you are certified.
If you are trying to go through a facility ask how long you'll work on the floor, costs, contracts, and how long you'll be in the class room. You should also check to see if you are required to work the days you are in class because I have heard of some facilities that do require this. Good Luck!

If you want contact names -- I would call the number on that website and ask for the list of approved training facilities and contact names at those facilities.

3 what does cost include (equipment, state testing fee etc.)
4 If a free course are you obliged to work for a period of time at the facility?
5 What percent employment do their course graduate achieve
6 How long is the course



Generally, I am more of a fan of local technical colleges -- you get 1st year college credit for it. Just my two cents.
