CNA test on Tuesday in NC and I am soooo nervous

by luvluv

I have 8 years military medical experience working on Med/Surg units and Labor & Delivery, and ambulatory clinics. I graduate RN school next year I am use to working at the level of a LPN or RN even, but I am sooooooooooooo nervous about this test on Tuesday in Charlotte. I was already offered a job working on a Neonatal ICU/Nursery in Raleigh NC making around $15.00-17.00. If I dont pass on Tuesday I can say goodbye to this job. I have been studying day and night but I cant seem to get over this nervousness. Someone please tell me it is not as bad as I'm making out to be. Please tell me its really easy here in NC or anywhere for that matter.

I know you'll do great. Give yourself permission to know the same thing. The judges that check for this exam want you to pass. They need good, trained, experienced honorable, ambitious CNAs. They are on your side!

As you're taking the skills test, make sure you verbally talk through your procedures. This talking will help them you know what you're doing AND it will calm you down as you hear yourself explain the skills. Practice talking and walking through the skills.

Focus on what you want: that great job, the feeling of pride, the RN training, and anything else that's positive as a result of your doing well.

On Monday night:
  1. Plan your route to the testing facility. Mapquest & print if needed.
  2. Lay out your clothes/uniform for the day.
  3. Make sure you have the required testing documents. (Letter, certificate, ID, or whatever)
  4. Make sure you get to bed early and get plenty of rest. If you have butterflies about sleep try melatonin caps. (They may help you rest with no AM drowsiness)....
Get up early Tuesday morning.... Plan a decent breakfast.... Let yourself be/feel relaxed.... Listen to some inspirational music or CD program as you get ready for the day. Avoid TV and AM/FM radio....

You will do AWESOME

You'll do fine. Think of all the experience you have. Just remember not to rush, think what you're going to do before you do it and you'll be ok.

Good luck!
