CNA salaries

by dsomday

I'm a nurse wannabe. After finishing one semester of my gen eds, I could no longer afford school. Loans are not an option either, and my income is too high for grants. I have thought about taking classes for a CNA, but am totally in the dark about the median income for an entry level CNA in Ohio area. Any feedback would be so appreciated!!!

Have you checked this thread? http://allnurses.com/forums/f265/cna-salary-169370.html - It has a lot of CNA salary info for most of the states.

If you go on salary.com, you can type in the city or town that you're living in, and they'll give you a basic salary report for CNA's. I looked up Cincinnati, Ohio, and the salary for CNA's is anywhere from $18,034 to $28,876. This was updated in Aug 2007. Hope that helps!

I would recommend a CNA job when in nursing school. It may not be the highest paying job, but where I'm from it's fairly decent pay. At my LTCF, after I'm there for a year they'll pay for any of my nursing schooling left, too! I would consider it, but if you do that, ask for sure what schools they'll pay for. My LTCF only pays for one, but luckily it's the one I'm at anyway.

I think most LTCFs do that around here, and I'm fairly sure the hospitals do, too.
