There is no average. If you look on the forum, past questions for the last 6 months, you'll see this question asked all the time. It depends on your general region, state, if rural or city, and the demand. I've seen started pay rates around $7.00 up to around $12.
In the Chicago area, it's around $8 -$9 to start. Downstate Illinois, it's less. Some of the far western and eastern states are significantly higher, but their cost-of-living is much higher.
Someone may be able to answer if you give your city/state.
Also, as a generalization, assisted living pays the least, LTC next, hospital the highest, and home health towards the lower end (again, as a generalization).
By the way, the 'standard' response for desired rate of pay is "open". The LTC sets the rates according to their schedule, not yours.......
