Try working at a home care or assisted living center as a caregiver/companion. You won't actually work as a "CNA" but you will do alot of the same care that you are trained for and you can build up experience and references in order to get the job you really want. Good Luck !!

Thank you for your advise. I am really frustated with this situation, I was thinking to call MARIC College and ask about the LVN program, what do you think? is that a really good option.

Well there are lots of options for pursuing your LVN or RN. You have to look into all the programs to see which is right for you. They all have their good points and not so good points. On this website there is lots of info on higher education.

Nurse Re: CNA HARD TO FIND JOB san diego
Hello there!!! I feel your frustration with your situation. I've read your last entry about checking Maric College for their LVN course and I think you should consider going through ROP if you want to save thousands of dollars. If you're still thinking about going into LVN then my advise to you is check out GROSSMONT HEALTH OCCUPATIONAL CENTER, in SANTEE, CA. From there you could check into the LVN program and get this you only have to pay close to $2500 for everything. Where as MARIC you would have to pay close to $40,000. Its an ROP program which is the same thing, their accrediatated for the state of California. Same system if you were to goto those other private colleges. The only requirement is you have to take a HEALTH ESSENTIALS COURSE and since you already took the CNA course from somewhere else you could probaley just take the H.E course only. The LVN course will start in August of 2009. I've already checked out the schedules. But the thing for me is I would have to take the H.E course, the CNA course before the LVN course. Take my advice if you don't want to pay thousands of dollars. Check out ROP........Good luck. Here's the phone number if your interested: 619-596-3690 ask for Dorothy. Once again check out your options. Good Luck.

Thank you very much for your advise. Today a classmate told me that is very hard to get into their ROP program, they change the admision test and now is harder to get in. I think is the TEAS test.
WOW I did not MARIC it was that expensive!!!!!!. I just feel that is going to take a long time for me becoming a LVN and I though going to a private school will be better. I just turn 30 so I am like I need to become LVN now. time is going so fast!! but I guess is better to wait and that will save me $$$$.
Are you in the health care field?

Where are you looking for jobs at? I always see listings for CNA jobs. One of my friends recently got her CNA/passed exam and is now working for a hospital. She makes 18$ hr.

I've learned its hard to get into the medical field period. they want good people but wont give any one with out experience a chance. from CNA all the way through to RN, its an up hill battle..it kinda makes you wanna throw in the towel..I have been applying here in GA for CNA position and get rejected too, I'm looking for weekends only in any hospital or nursing home....this weekend I applied to Kohls, Walmart and Target...I'm frustrated...and to think I'm currently in school finished all my pre-reqs for LPN, studing for the NET, cant imagine all the hurdles that will be waiting for me then..

HI,
I feel the same way i am turning 30 this yr.... Im trying to get intot the LVN program @ ROP, I heard the test is hard as well... and I am totally bad @ math.... I am going to reg. for a pre-req course for the LVN tomorrow... I dont want to go to Maric I had a bad experience w. them,, plus the LVN is 30,000 why spend that much when the ROP program is 2500...... I have been researching schools and all of them require the TEAS test......
