CNA course a requirement to take exam?

Hello Everyone,

I'm a newbie. This is my first post.

I am a single mother of 3 and desperate to get a job. I have just finished my first year of fundamentals and am due to graduate with my ASN May 2010. I know that with my first year of fundamentals, I can now be a PCT. I'm confused about the requirements for CNA. The classes offered in a CNA course are ones I have already taken. Can I just study up and take the exam or do I have to take courses first?

I have asked staffing companies and even CNA instructors. No one seems to know. All I know is that most of the job openings I have seen require a CNA.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You should contact your state BON b/c if you've already completed fundamentals, than I think all you have 2 do is apply to the BON & receive your CNA license.

I would say the same thing. I know you can challenge the test. But you will have to contact the state board to find out what the process is. I know here the test is given through pearson vue. Good luck.
