well i was scheduled to take the cna exam today i was unable to take written part because my drivers license had my maiden name in it and when i applied i did not include it. so i had to call my husband to bring me something minus my maiden name. well he got there in time for me to take skills portion now i have to re- register to take written exam so learn a lesson your name must match exactly and i passed the clinical yeah!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for that tip because I have my maiden name hyphenated with my married last name so I don't want to get it messed up!

On a side note-this weekend will be my last weekend of classes and I DO NOT see how anyone could just challenge the skills test without having some sort of training at all! I am a fast learner and all but there would be no way.

St Pete has a 2 weekend class called Florida Medical Prep. It is where I went and it was great! I would NOT recommend challenging the test because the skills test is something you will not pass if you don't learn it. Each skill has AT LEAST 10 steps (some skills 20 steps) and you have do do each step in order and correctly. You complete 3 skills out of 21 skills that you are trained on and you do not know what those are until you step into the room with just you and the person testing you. The multiple choice would seem like common sense but there are some answers that all seem like they would apply but you need to chose the correct answer. Tricky. Good luck!

what were the 3 skills they tested you on? i'm getting ready to take mine now and while i'm not worried about the written portion, i am concerned about forgetting something on the skills portion. we were told they would give us one easy, one medium and one hard skill to perform ..... any help would be VERY much appreciated

I'm going to challenge the exam this month taking a one day prep class. As I started looking for jobs around Tampa I noticed most of them mention the requirement of a CNA training class. Is challenging the exam going to make it harder to find a job as a CNA or will it not matter as long as I pass the exam? I know this thread was from a few months ago so I'd assume you already took the exam and hopefully passed! If you did challenge it, did you run into any problems with finding a job without taking a class?
