What are pool hours?

Nursing Students CNA/MA

This might be a stupid questhion but I really have no idea what pool hours are. There is a nursing home I called and they said they are hiring someone for pool hours. Is this different shifts some mornings some evenings? I told her I was looking for either part time or full time but need evening hours and weekends I was able to work days or nights. She said she would let the recruiter know. I haven't got my certification yet just doing the prep course I told her that and she said that they are hiring for pool and I had really know idea what those hours or shifts are. Can someone explain. Thanks!

pool to me means bank/agency

you get to work if someone else is sick extra no fixed contract hours

they ring and offer a shift morning/eveing nights etc and you can accepts and work or decline

Thanks! It was confusing because she said they have both shifts they are 12 hour shifts she said either 7am-7pm or 7pm -7am and I told her I could work nights on weekdays and days or nights during the weekend and she said ok it is pool hours and I will let my recruiter know. So, I just didn't understand because there are 2 different shifts that are open but she made sure to say "pool" twice in the conversation which I had no idea what that meant.

Just want to make sure you realize that generally, if you're in a float pool (pool hours), you are not eligible for benes as your hours vary. You may be working a fair amount, or not for weeks at a time. No way to tell.

If you're looking for full time, with benes, you don't want this. If you just want to work from time-to-time, fine.
