Waiting to take my state exam (where can I work as a nurse assistant?)

I just finished my CNA class last week. I haven't taken my state exam yet (I don't really feel as if the class prepared me for skills...they introduced 5 new skills the day before the final exam, so I only got to do them once).
Is there anywhere I can work that I don't have to have my state certification? I am leaning more towards working with a younger population, and not necessarily in an LTC.
