by t2091 Aug 30, '12I passed my CNA class, Arizona state test and turned in everything to the state nursing board and have been applying to jobs but keep running into the "we need your actual license" before we can interview you. Is this normal practice for most places or will some hire under a temporary or something along those lines until I receive my license number? I keep getting calls but I'm hesitant to keep running around town if they won't go any further.

- Aug 31, '12 by RunnerRN2b2014In NC, we just have to have our name listed on the state registry, which only takes a few days. We don't get an "official license"; we get a letter stating that we're listed on the registry.carakristin1 likes this.
- Sep 1, '12 by carakristin1I'm in MD, and just finished my class. We were told that we should be issued a license number in 4-8 weeks, which we would find out by checking the state's board of nursing website. I don't think we will get an actual license or anything in the mail.
Check with your CNA instructor/school and find out what they know about how long it should take and what you will actually receive as a license. And it can't hurt to pester your board after a few weeks have gone by, just to be like, "I have some applications out. They are interested in me but said I can't interview without my license number. So how 'bout it?" A few of my friends have had to do that. - Sep 1, '12 by SuperMeghan91Quote from t2091In Florida, you recieve your lcense number and a sheet of paper saying you passed your test and your official license will be here in X days. We are able to apply to jobs by just giving out license number. So you could go, pass the exam, and apply to jobs that same day.I passed my CNA class, Arizona state test and turned in everything to the state nursing board and have been applying to jobs but keep running into the "we need your actual license" before we can interview you.
