What is the difference between a CNA 1 and a CNA 2? I have never heard of such thing in IL!

CNA 2 is like upgrating your CNA 1 certification. CNA2s received specialized training in more depth to assist and alleviate the RN workload in hospitals and other acute care settings and their scope of practice defer from state to state. In NC, the CNA2 skills are: sterile technique, oxygen, urinary catheralization, tracheostomy care, colostomy care, nasogastric tube removal, nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal suctioning, IV site care, IV bag set up, IV catheter removal, wound care, fecal impaction removal, and nasogastric/gastrostomy/jejunostomy feeding. Again, it is different from state to state.

fecal impaction removal

As a CNA 2 in the ER, let's just keep this a secret between us 2's that this little skill is within our scope of practice :) I don't think the ER RN's know yet!

I don't think anyone can justify that kind of work either! So basically cna lls start out $12 an hr with no experience?

I'm so glad you posted this lol. I am currently doing my CNA1 training but have been interested in doing another semester for my CNA2. I'm going to my local community college. Good luck with your studies :)

Oh yeah!! Sometimes the college I go to offers a hybrid course. That's what I'm doing right now for my CNA1.
