Skin and Handwashing

What lotions or creams do you use for your hands? I'm sure if you work as a CNA, you know how dry your hands can get. Since I've started, I noticed I'd rash out on my hands. It got better when I switched glove sizes to be more lose but it still can get really bad. It just seems nothing helps.

I use Aveeno Intense Relief Hand Cream most of the time, it's really great. I have some of the triple moisture body cream from Bath and Body Works that I use on my hands when I want to smell good - it's super moisturizing.

One trick I've learned for dry hands and feet is to slather them with a thick cream or lotion before bed, then put cotton socks and gloves on to sleep. Your hands will absorb more moisture.

It also helps to carry around a little lotion with you at work, and put some on often throughout the day.

Yea its just best to put some type of lotion on after you wash your hands to keep them from drying out. I used to carry Gold Bond around with me, because it would sanitize your hands, and also mosturize them so it wouldn't dry your skin out.

Because I wash and sanitize my hands often, I use just a little bit of the medline moisture barrier, that the facility carries. Only because I don't want to risk forgetting or losing my personal lotion on the job.

I'm going to try GlovesInABottle. It's supposed to be waterproof and provides 24 hour protection against dryness and chapping. With this cold dry winter weather and all the hand-washing I do constantly, my hands are really suffering. Let's see if this stuff will do the trick. ;)

I use Silicone Glove by Avon.

I either use pocket-sized lotion or Vaseline.

Very important issue! When you're washing your hands 20-30 times a day it IS VERY important to keep your skin INTACT. You don't want your skin separating and splitting because as I'm sure you know intact skin is your first line of defense against infections along with handwashing.

I use "Vaseline intensive care lotion" but I think anything will do. After this bottle runs out I think I'm going to try to get the Walmart brand and see if it's just as good.

My absolute favorite/best lotion is Hempz lotion, but it is pretty expensive and I didn't get any for Christmas this year. So I'll have to do without any until my birthday, I'm going to have to hint even harder this time.
