Question About Becoming a CNA

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Hi,

I have a question about becoming a CNA. I was wondering if anyone knew how to become a CNA besides through a Junior College. I am considered an out-of-state student right now and to pay for CNA classes through the local JC would run me around 5k.

Thanks:nuke:

There are a few programs around here through vocational schools and there used to be an independent CNA training school but they closed just a couple months ago.

I have heard that some nursing homes have their own training programs as well.

You might check with your state's board that oversees nurse aides and see if they have a list of training schools.

Good luck!

I would call area nursing homes first. A lot of times they offer the classes to people that they will hire upon completion, but usually in order to take the class you have to work for them for an amount of time. Also, a lot of technical or BOCES programs offer the class for a pretty reasonable price, as well as some Red Cross sites. You may also try your local Workforce office or an employment agency. They may have places that are looking to hire aides and may have ideas of training. Good luck!

Try a local tech college. Call to area hospitals to see if they offer training or if they could recommend a place. Red Cross is another option as well as nursing homes and long term care facilties.

you could also search cna training in colorado on this site and get some reveiws.

Don't forget about Adult Education programs. In our area, each school district has an adult ed division and most offer CNA training.

you might have to do some research and find out what nursing home or facility is offering CNA classes

When i went to school for my STNa's the cost was no more than 500 around 420-500 range

hope that helped :nuke:
