Online CNA course?

Hello! I am beginning my prereqs for nursing and although I am certified as a RMA through AMT, I feel that it is best (although Kennesaw State does not currently require it at this time) to get my CNA.

I am curious if there is an online course that I could take?

I have a feeling that even though I'm a veteran Navy Corpsman, and a RMA, I will need to participate in an accredited course in order to be able to take the exam.

Never mind. I think I am going to pass on the idea considering I only have so much left of my GI Bill education benefits... I'm just going to volunteer, perhaps take up a PRN position and do my best in Nursing school when the time comes.

However, please feel free to comment. I don't mind advice as this may or may not be the best thing for me to do (bypassing the CNA).

This comes from one of the CNA classes here in Colorado-If you take an online CNA course You are NOT ELIGIBLE to take the "Colorado State Nurse Aide Competency and Evaluation exam" (original certificate by exam) because on-line internet training does not include the "supervised" skills training or actual hands-on "clinical" training that is provided by Colorado state approved nurse aide training programs. You will therefore need to enroll in and complete a Colorado state approved nurse aide training program. I don't know if that applies to each state but it would seem that clinicals are a big part of the course. How are you going to do that with an online course?

The CNA can help but you definitely shouldn't take an online CNA course. As the above poster said, they don't teach you the hands-on skills you need in an online program you need nor will you be eligible for the program. As I said before, it can help. If you don't want to use your GI Bill, did you perhaps tried the Workforce Centers in your area? Depending on the state you live in and if you are eligible, you can look into them funding the CNA program for you if it is part of their list of programs that they pay for. Hope this helps.
