Need Help - More Info on CNA program

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Hi Guys!

Great forum. I need your help with some info. I will start a CNA program in a week. I did a research and this particular one is accredited (Health Care Worker Registry, Illinois Department of Public Health). I already put a downpayment. The total cost for this course is $975.00, which is a lot for me, but at least they let you to pay in 2 installments. Books, CPR (including a card), criminal background, one top scrub (need to buy a bottom), and a CNA test fee are included. What's seems fishy to me is that I have three different company names, addresses, and phone numbers: one is on my receipt, different one is in the registry, and another one is on the vaccination and the pre-entrance physical examination form. Am I just getting paranoid or is it normal nowdays?

Class schedule is M-F 5:30-9.30 PM for 5 weeks starting on Oct, the 13th, including 4 clinicals in the nursing home. Company's name is Health Career Institute and the school location is at 1974 Miner St, Des Plaines, IL 60016 and if you go there they have a different name on the door.

If someone took this class already or maybe you know someone who took it, etc... can you please share your experience:redbeathe

I know they have a valid program --- I didn't attend there, but worked with others who did.

That price isn't bad. Tuition at your local schools (Harper, Oakton) are probably in the $600 range without expenses (I live in your neck of the woods so I am familiar with most of the Chicago-area community colleges).

Anyway, you're fine with that school. I can't explain the other addresses on receipts. I'm figuring they are going 3rd party for testing, CPR class (meaning, they're bringing other people into the school to handle parts of what you are paying for outside the classroom).

I believe, however, that there are other businesses at that address related to healthcare (in case you're seeing other names on the door).

thank you dear,

you are correct; price is not bad considering the local colleges increased their tuition. like harper, for instance, 90 $ per credit hour. at the time you are done with all their fees, bla, bla, bla it will be the same amount if not more plus their schedule is not working for me anyway. the il legislation $500 cup for cna programs went down the drain again; well that's a reality for ya!

I just took the class and Mrs. Cabrera is great! She’s a lot of fun and is funny at times. You will read the chapters out loud during the class and its very rare that you will have to stay until 9:30. You read about 3 chapters a night and you are assigned homework questions after each chapter. It’s a pain but the class was great! I made some nice friends in that class.
