my poor poor friend.......

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

some of ya'll may remember me talking about the friend(Alesiha) I made during cna classes, shes a real sweetheart, very smart(had a 98 gpa) very nice person and did a very good job on skills and at clinicals,but-SHE JUST FAILED THE CLINICAL part of state exams for the 3rd time!!!!!!! I feel so horrible for her that I hardly know what to say to comfort her. I am so shocked and can ony imagine how she is feeling.:bluecry1: I guess I'm just asking ya'll to keep her in ya thoughts and prayers that she doesnt lose complete and total confidence in herself, she is going thru some personal problems right now too and shes also in nursing school..I just feel so bad for her I thought I'd share with ya'll. thanks for reading,{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}Michelle

Whatever is going on with her I hope she can pull herself together. I would hate for this third failure to affect her so much that she starts messing up in nursing school. She needs that CNA certificate to fall back on if nursing school doesn't work out. Good luck to her.

Sorry to hear this :( I am assuming you passed? Maybe you can go through the skills with her, as you did to pass and help and encourage her.

Kind of an aside: In my class, we were told to avoid a specific testing center as they failed 10 out of 12 people in one skills testing session! A fellow student is taking the class again (he didn't retest in time so has to do it all over) and said that he was tested on something that he considered out of the 'scope of practice' and even our instructors were trying to look into that.

Anyway, back to the subject; please encourage and help her if you can. When testing, confidence is a must. Does she know what she failed on?

All the best,

Chris

I'll pray for her!!!!

Agri -I def. have been helping her.(yes I passed) I know that its not from her not knowing the skills,it has got to be her nerves. thing is,seems like she misses a couple of things and fails, others miss numerous things and still pass.I dont understand how the "point" system works. anyway I have been to the school and helped her practice and shes even came out to my house and practiced! I just dont get it and feel so bad for her,but she is a real go getter and she doesnt give up,soo.....

Keep helping your friend CNAMIchelle I am sure she appreciates it dearly. She probably just needs to relax. Sounds like she is so determined to get it that she is messing up and making mistakes. She probably needs to just calm down and breath. The clinical part is really not that bad. Good luck to her!!

In the Pearson Vue book, there are some items that are bold THOSE are the ones that will get you failed. I also have heard of others missing one or two items and failing and others missing many and passing. Ironically, last night I laid in bed with my mind going things over and over and I was dreaming about screwing up changing an occupied bed, while in lab I found it to be about the easiest thing other than putting on a TEDs hose! Weird. Now I have this fear of failing the skills... ugh.

I feel for her. Try and give her as much support as you can, maybe review some skills with her. Most times, the clinical portion can be very stressful...having someone watching every little step you make can be nerve wracking and that tends to make some people blank out. Best wishes to her!
