hello

I live in TN and also PCT's are able to do blood draws. In order to be a PCT you must be a CNA. The scope of a PCT is a CNA who has knowleged of EKG's and phlebotomy. PCT's in my city usually work in Hospital settings( onocology).

Specializes in Med surg, Critical Care, LTC.

We hired two CNA's to work as ER TEch's. They spent the day being trained in phlebotomy in the lab, and spent time learning how to do EKG's, and helping with procedures in the ER. They could remove IV's and foleys, but not start them. They assisted in codes. They were a Godsend.

Good luck

In our state you have to take a phlebotomy course and get state certification course. Its the next step on my list :)

Specializes in Emergency.

dialysis centers

I worked at HealthSouth Rehab hospital and I drew there AM labs. I was already a phelbotomist and when they seen that as one of my skills they asked if I would be willing to draw there lab. Otherwise they would have to call a nurse in just to draw labs. I did to keep my phlebotomy skills up to date. That was one of the things I missed most when I left there.
