I have a phone interview for CNA Training...

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Hi, I'm 17 and hoping to pursue nursing! The problem is, I am clueless about what they know, hence why we have to go to school. Well, I have a phone interview tomorrow and I don't know what to expect them to ask or how to answer the things that I don't know..

Phone interview for? Are you already a cna? Is your goal to become an lpn or RN?

It's an interview to see if I'm right to going though their CNA training program. It's though a local nursing home in Ellensburg, WA. I plan on getting my BSN once I get into nursing school but right now I'm working on the pre reqs.

Oh ok that is good. You will be fine. They are going to ask you questions just to make sure that cna is something you want to do. You are lucky to have that program I've searched for free programs but I guess god just wanted me to show him how much I really want this that I had to pay out of my pocket and now I have to look for a job w barely no experience. Good luck it is easy. Mostly common sense taking care of an elder in my opinion is similar to a baby.

You have to know they're rights like privacy wise and refusal of things is ok. And safety precautions. You will learn all this but if they ask you you know what things would be safe and what wouldn't be safe. But I'm sure they won't ask you any questions regarding those type of things they prolly just want to know about your personality.

Let ent me know how it goes and what they do ask you I'm curious. Also if you get accepted. Good luck!! You will be fine.

Well, I am really bummed out. I had a great chat with the runner of the program. She was asking me questions on what a somebody with a CNA would do, what their job description is. She asked if I would be able to handle cleaning up feces and vomit and if I could handle blood. It went very well.

Sadly, I am currently 17 and I cannot begin the program until I am 18. And waht sucks even more, is that The classes end in June and I have my birthday in July...

I am super bummed out and kind of discouraged..

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

Most healthcare jobs for liability reasons cannot accept anyone under the age of majority. One reason is a minor cannot legally sign confidentiality agreements (such as HIPAA compliance) and other legal documents. Some states prohibit minors from handling bodily fluids & infectious waste. You are young. You have passion and time is on your side.

Maybe see if you can volunteer at the facility until you turn 18 and perhaps have another class?

Ugh that sucks. Did she mention when the next class will start? Why don't you try to get into and lpn program as soon as you finish high school so that way after the first semester you can challenge the cna exam? And you'll be a young nurse. I have a friend who was an RN by 21. She's 23 now going for her bsn. Do not get discourage I wasn't ready to go to college when I graduated high school my goal was to get into the Air Force first and for some reason I could not pass the asvab entrance exam. I guess it was not meant for me. So I decided I wanted to go to a technical school but had no luck as a medical assistant. I ended up w a customer service job. Then I tried community college but to be honest I had no support and I was very shy and didn't want to sound dumb that didn't work out for me. I continued working as customer service then I decided to just be a stay at home mom and now I am focused trying to get back out there. Luckily for me i will only be 24 in July. I just finished my cna program and you will be surprised how many adults decide to have a career change later in life.

Do not get discourage. Just stay in that field. Volunteer that is the best thing you can do because in the work force most places ask for exp. it is def a benefit on your resume.

I'm not perfect and I don't have all the experience in the world but I sure want to give you advice and support so that you can reach for your goals. Rejection is fine, the best time you just go harder.

So the program can't take you well keep searching you will find a better opportunity!
