Getting Nervous!

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Hello everyone!

I have an interview tomorrow morning for a CNA class...and I'm nervous! The class is 6 weeks long, and the nursing home staff that teaches the class hopes that the students will work there when they have completed the class. I guess the main reason I'm nervous is because I haven't worked in such a long time. I've been staying home since my daughter, who is now 4, was born. It's just a scary feeling, I guess. I have this feeling like, what if I mess something up? Or, I guess I should admit that I'm a little scared of intimate tasks with residents, like changing diapers. YIKES! I keep thinking that because I've seen just about every consistency of poo coming from my kids, that it will be the same with the elderly. For all of you CNAs out there, how do you like your job? I would love some advice if you have any to give!!

Thanks!

Jen

I don't have much advice (I'm taking my class this summer)... but I wanted to wish you good luck and let you know.... :balloons:YOU WILL DO GREAT!!! :balloons:

Good luck!!!!

Jennifer

I am in the same type of situation. I'll start the cna classes in june then after that, hopefully start working part time. I have'nt had a job since my son was born 7 years ago. I just tell myself, self, your a hard worker, you care, and You've seen plenty of bowel movements as a mother and it has'nt phased you yet. I think we'll both be fine, the nervous feeling should go away when work begins!
