Congrats on your new job! Your so lucky that you are familiar with the hospital. It will be easier for you, you'll know where some things are, it's awful not to know where things are, like a simple ice machine for pt ice water. You have friends there who will be a great support instead of everyone being strangers. All new nurses are nervous and scared, if they were not, I'd be afraid for them and thier patients. There is no way u can learn everything in school, education continues every day u work and start today at 3 PM, good luck, your gonna do great. Be very proud of yourself, hold your head high, smile, shoulders back and strut without wiggling your butt , ha ha. Let us know how your night went, okay? okay

Good for you!! CNA'S are the backbone of nursing. They are the eyes and ears for nurses!:w00t:

in my opinion, u learn about 10% in school and all the rest in due time...best thing to remember is that there no stupid questions...never be afraid to ask because with the answers come knowledge and this grows daily. i havent been a nurse too long...7 yrs...and i still learn/hear of something new at least weekly. i rememeber those feels...also, get organized and make sure u r always aware of whats going on with your pts (from the vitals etc from the CNAs) GL

congratulations!!!! wow, after you completed the cna program you got your job, good for you i wish im lucky as you are after im my class. so how did you get your job ? any advise from you is greatly appreciated thank you!

Don't worry, if i could do CNA work, anyone can do it. I am the shyest aide alive, but I have found my niche and own style with the patients that works for me and them. Still get nervous in certain situations, because hey, aides see things that are not the norm in most jobs and would make a lot of people blush. But in time nothing will shock you much anymore. And it is so rewarding to be appreciated by the 92 year old alzheimers patient who says everytime you help her, :thanks for all you do for me and for being so kind" That will make you smile, and help you to really love the work.

sounds like you are doing wonderfully well, the fact that you worked short and really was not getting oriented but put right in the fire, which is not unusual in our field, and you still are upbeat tells me that you have what it takes to do this job well and to do it so that your patients benefit. as for my neck of the woods, it's cold and white, we had a nice little blizzard while i was gone to vegas. had to drive from oklahoma city to northeast corner of oklahoma and it took us 8 hrs to make a 3 hr trip. driving was so stressfull , had to stop twice for power naps. even the truckers were pulled over and the toll booths were closed, thats how slick it was, thanks for asking. good luck with your job . sincerely ronna

Not to worry! You will be great. My husband always tells me, if the job can be done, you can do it. Alot of NA work is based on diligence and continually reassessing your skills. I take a long long time to catch on, so, as another poster said, if I can do it , anyone can!

Have a wonderful time!
