Thanks for all the information. I will look into all them and hopefully I'll find something!! Would anyone recommend a nursing home for training? I'm only asking because I've heard that they will leave a sour taste in your mouth lol.
Avoid any facility run by Cypress Healthcare Management.
This includes: Sherwood Manor, Lakewood Quarters, and Regency Hospital LTAC. While these places hire on spot (CNA or no CNA), Sherwood Manor is constantly in trouble with the state (and Channel 9 news!!!! use google, I do not lie), Lakewood Quarters is slightly better but still pretty bad, and why do Regency LTAC when Promise LTAC is so much better to work for. (Promise is going to want CNA, though) None of those will pay for CNA, though.
In New Orleans, beware of Covenant House and Ferncrest Manor.
All these bad facilities I warned you about have reputations of paying very low and running very short staffs with high complaints amongst the Louisiana CNA community.
EDIT: To be honest, do not expect pay to be all that just starting out or with no cert. Many do hire without it, but the pay, none the less, is low. We are talking federal minimum to 8 USD. Consider Mental Health, too. Oceans Behavioral, a geri psych hires folks without the cert from time to time. Night shift is better in a geri psych. Day shift is better in an adult and pediatric psych.
Get your cert and go from there.
