CNA Skill Question

Hello everyone!

If you don't mind me asking, I have a question for those who have taken the CNA exam.

For the "Assists to Ambulate using Transfer Belt," do you need to lower and raise side rail? The Pearson VUE Candidate Handbook (http://www.asisvcs.com/indhome.asp?CPCAT=0705NURSE) does not state so. It's on page 24 (or 30 on pdf file).

I think on the exam we probably do not have to since the patient is AMBULATORY right? Do you know anyone who failed this skill on the exam because they didn't apply side-rail safety?

When I took the skills test the tester already had the 'resident' sitting on the side of the bed. The rail was not an issue or addressed during the skills test. Don't worry about the rail and good luck on the exam.

Update:

SoCal has two test distributers, one from Red Cross and one from Pearson VUE.

After many calls I finally got an answer from Department of Public Health.

Bless her soul who helped me, made me feel so much better.

I'm taking the Red Cross test and it is 27 SKILLS! But I know I will be ready by Thursday!
