Hello!

I took a cna class over the summer. My instructor mentioned to us towards the end of the course that we can be reimbursed for the cost of the course by our employer through medicare/medicaid. I have research online about this and the requirements for the reimbursement. By my state's law, if we are employed at a medicare/medicaid facility, we are suppose to be reimbursed no later than 12 months after employment. The facility I work is one supported by medicare/medicaid.

While on break with my co-workers, we were discussing where we took our cna classes and the cost. I mentioned to them what my instructor had told use about getting reimbursed for the course. To my amazement, they had no idea about this. Even one of the aides that has been there for at least 2 years had no idea this was going on!

My question to you all is, I have been at my place of employment for only about 2 months. I figured I should wait til my 90 day review to even bring this subject up. However, it concerns me that someone who has been there longer than I have had no idea about it. Should I just wait til the review to bring it up or act now? Here's the kicker. I may be leaving that job for one at a hospital. The HR at the hospital told me in my application that if I can open up my weekends more, I may be able to work part-time or PRN. They are also associated with medicare/medicaid. In that case, should I just wait altogether and see how things go in a couple of weeks?

Any input would be appreciated!
