1. I've been a CNA for 3 yrs.

2. I do in home CNA work ( home agency), so its per hr/per client, so it can vary as clients get added or dropped. I get $14.00 an hr.

3. can have up to 6 clients a day..or as few as 2 a day.

4. I start the nursing program (ASN) this fall (2010) :)

5. I loved the diversity of clients, and the one on one contact with them. I got to see them in their natural surrounding, so it brings out the best of them, as well as the side you dont get to see in a health care facitlity. Most want me to just sit and talk, have a cup of tea with them, or to sit down with them as they eat their lunch, that I just made for them. I know when I do clinicals this fall, I wont have the opportunatity to splend such leisurly time w/my pts ;(

OK, I am in the UK, so maybe not too relevant, but I thought I would answer anyway :p

1. Four years next month!

2. Depends how much OT I do, I get paid monthly, though.

3. Usually 13 or 14, if I am lucky and there are 3 of us on, then I get 8.

4. I want to go to RN school.

5. I LOVE being able to spend time with patients and to be able to make them comfortable/happy.

3. We work in pairs and each pair gets 16. Technically 8 of them are "mine" but in reality we just combine everything especially since most of the residents are assist of 2.

4. Furthering my education. I want to go to OT school.

5. Teasing the residents, making them look nice in the morning, and making them snacks.

The rewarding experience of knowing how more comfortable patients are after giving them care or assisting them in their daily activities.

Between my two jobs: probably $300-$350

Question 3. How many partients do you usually have during your shift?

At one of my jobs (private duty) its just one per shift. At my other (assisted living) me & another caregiver are responsible for 14 people.

Question 4. Do you paln on staying a CNA or furthering your education?

Not @ all! I'm hoping & praying to get into nursing school this fall.

Question 5. What do you like MOST about being a CNA?

The work is stressful, the pay is low & the people you have to work with aren't always the friendliest people...but at the end of the day, I like to think I made a difference in somebody's life.

My name is Peggy. I live and work on Long island NY.

I've been a CNA for 5 months.

I make 490.00 a week (after taxes).

I work with 10 residents.

I plan on staying a CNA.

The thing I like most about my job is making the residents smile...

1.) 3 years, only have worked 2 of them, though.

2.) I started out in 2007 at 10$ per hour. When I resigned March 2009 I made 11.50 per hour in Kentucky. Depending where you live, that can change. For example: Cali and New York have higher standards of living (1 bedroom Apartment here is 600$ average where in New York it's 1,000$ average) So you'd probably make more or less depending on that.

3.) Generally 8 patients was standard. On a bad day I would have never more than 12.

4.) I am currently working on my LPN, my long term plan is to get my RN, BSN, MSN, ARNP.

5.) I loved the time I got to spend with the patients. I worked on an Alzheimers unit and they were really special people.
