CNA Program??

  1. 0 So I am currently in a community college doing my prereqs to get into nursing school, and it is very competitive around here, I was thinking of taking a CNA program in the summer to give me both experience and maybe increase my chances on getting into a nursing school, any thoughts?, would this be worth it?. I'm in southern California and the CNA programs all vary from 500-2000$. Also If anyone around the Los Angeles area recommends any specific programs?

There are plenty of free programs available. It takes a lot of calling and digging but I was finally able to find a free weekend program that fit my schedule and didn't require me to work for the facility afterwards. Just make sure where you go is certified. http://www.cdph.ca.gov/services/trai...ngPrograms.pdf

Thank you for the advice, I have been looking around, so far haven't found any free ones close enough to me. Did you go for the CNA and then on to another nursing program?

Try researching community colleges or adult schools that may have a cna program in your area. I am currently in LAVC not sure how far away you are from this school. But they go by lottery system. This program cost 470-500 also they let apply for the grant when you are in and depends on your income they will let you know if you will pay for the program or not. if you qualify they can cover all the books and uniform and the program itself. goodluck let know if you have any questions
