CNA job interview questions

Today must be my lucky day! I got two calls for a job interview ,both from the same hospital but different branches and both of them are nurse aid positions. God am so excited!

I have been wanting to work for this place and really do not know why. I have been looking up CNA interview questions ,most of them seem like they want to find out about your personality - "what would you do in this situation?" "how did you handle that?"

I think I should be able to handle that part. Is there any nurse aide job specific question? Like technical, for example, when you put on a new patient gown, do you put it on the weak side or the strong side? That was the only thing that I could think of now.

Also, I know it has been discussed here before, what should I wear? I am going with formal pants and shirt.

Just wanted to give you guys an update. I DID get the job! Yay! :w00t:(I was very surprised because I got both of them and had to choose!) And it's on day shift...whew! I was worried about working nights. I had my meeting with HR and OHS yesterday and I'm going to pick up my scrubs today! I'm not going to lie, my stomach did about ten thousand little flips when I got the call. I thought, oh crap...I'm really doing this.:eek: It's pretty scary as a first-timer. Like Weezy, I have been researching...Looking at countless videos on youtube and reading all that I can to make sure I am not completely dumbfounded when I get in there. I have lots to learn! How did you do on your interview Weezy?!

I got the job too :) I am so psyched. Don't want to over-do it ,I do fee grateful that I got a good chance.

My job is part-time nights which is a bit of an adjustment but am fine. Just have to roll with it. I will be working 2 12-hr shifts in a week and then see from there. My orientations starts in 2 weeks.

Thanks to everyone who helped me interview-wise, they did ask some of the same questions.

Oh and congratulations KeepcalmCarryOn :) Lots of good wishes for a new phase !

Unless you know for sure (like been told by the facility) that scrubs are appropriate, I would wear a suit. Or at least formal slacks/skirt, and blouse/collared shirt. At my CNA school we were advised never to wear scrubs. An interview isn't about looking like a CNA...its about showing professionalism, your personality, etc. Scrubs can come off as sloppy. I was the only person that wore a suit at a recent CNA interview I went to. It was a group interview. They told me they appreciated my professionalism and that I gave specific examples from past employment (Never been a CNA...gave examples of customer service and when I've worked with senior/elderly individuals). I start orientation on Monday!!! Very excited. This was at a LTC facility. Good luck to everyone interviewing...be persistent, follow up after a week of applying if you don't hear anything. If given the opportunity for a cover letter, do one! Look at the job ad and taylor your resume with the buzzwords they use in the job ad.

Did you have to take a test before your interview? And if so what did it consist of? I have my first interview next week and want to be prepared since I have to take the exam and give them my results right before I get to talk to them and am very nervous!

As for the interview, you should always wear your scrubs.

Nooooo! Please don't wear scrubs to the interview!

Didn't plan on wearing scrubs. But did you take an exam?

Well of course you can wear formal attire, but from what I heard.. It's better to go in your scrubs. At least that's what my sister and instructor said and she's been a Nurse for a few years. Obviously it's up to you though. Also, each hospital interviews differently.. But I highly recommend you study for "scenario" type of questions.. Everyone I have ever known who has had an interview as a Nurse or CNA has ALWAYS had scenario type of questions.. If you don't have those types of questions then great.. It doesn't hurt to study for them though.

Every interview expert (who has done research on this) says absolutely no scrubs on interviews.
