Cna hourly wages/nursing home?

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Hello everyone!

I was just wondering how much do you earn as a CNA working in a nursing home?

I want to start applying and work until I finish nursing school but I want to know what I should expect/ask for when I get asked.

I found a position for 11.50. Is this reasonable? Should I keep searching?

Personally I think its okay but I don't know what I should be looking for....

THANK YOU

There's a thread about this. It all depends where you're located

$11.50 seems pretty reasonable for start rate. But slayer is right as well that it all depends on location. Some may start at $9.00 while others $12-$13 dollars.

In fact, just in my area (I live on two state lines), one state said they're starting wage without differential was 10.50 while the other state one started at 8.50 (lot of turn over and horror stories of that facility).

It does depend on location. In my eyes thats a good start because where I work we started at 8.06 and only because of two raises we have received since I have been working there , and I have only been there a lil over a year, I am now making 8.63

Wow Coleman my heart aches for you. That to me is just a disgraceful wage to be giving hard working CNAs. They should be ashamed of themselves.

According to Coleman's profile, he/she is located in Louisiana. Generally speaking, healthcare facilities in the Southeastern states are not the highest paying due to overall lower cost of living in that region.

In the neck of the woods where I live, CNAs earn anywhere from $10 to $15/hourly on average. Some earn more and others earn less.

I'm from NC, and I think the facilities here are paying lower than average. My first job after becoming certified paid less than $9/hr, so $11.50 seems great to me. It's not good for morale when you go through the process of becoming a CNA and are paid such a low amount. I personally think 11.50 is an excellent place to start.

Wow $11.50 for SNF is good. In Cali, it's $9.50-10 @SNF/LTC, assisted living pays $10-11 & hospitals pay a lil more $12-15.

I live in eastern NC. I work at assisted living and the probationary pay is $8.80 but after the 90 days it goes up to 9 something.

I worked in a hospital as a patient care tech aka cna while I was in nursing school. I was in NJ and it was $14.50 an hour.

CNAs in my area in MN make $12.00-13.00/hr starting. I know someone who's worked as a CNA for a while and she makes a little over $16/hr so it depends on location and experience.
