Will most Hospitals hire new CNA Grads?

It depends on where you are. I was hired with no experience, not even with my CNA yet, to work as a nurse aide in a hospital. :)

Yes and No

I started at $23/hr but I live in northern Canada so we have a high cost of living.

Specializes in Med Surg.

I have had several different cna jobs in the last year my pay was the following:

8.79

9.25

8.25!!!(MINIMUM WAGE IS 8.25!)

and my current is 10.04

I only have about 3 months total of experience because I have been in some not so pleasent LTC facilities, but the one I am at now is a really good facility and is willing to pay better then most facilities around here. (I live in IL)

I just got hired at hospital in Ozaukee county WI. 0 experience, had to get my BLS certification which only took 1 day. Im starting at 10.48 per hour, full medical and dental benefits, 401K, tuition reimbursement, PTO. For PM shifts I get a extra $1 more an hour, for weekend shifts I get a extra $2 a hour. They are very flexible with working around my school schedule and I will be working on the med/surg floor. I am very excited and very happy, I really wanted to get into a hospital and am glad they were willing to take a chance on me. I will be working PT which is perfect since I am taking Microbiology and A & P 2 this fall. :uhoh3: Orientation in 2 weeks!:yeah:

In Jacksonville, FL, I started at St. Vincent's in April '08 at 9.76/hour

And that was starting with no experience in the medical field!

Ok, so do they accept and actually hire people without exp. in the field? I just got certified as a CNA and I am looking for a job but everything wants exp. If you have any info on places hiring for CNA or good places to get exp at let me know! :)

I became Florida certified this past March and have found that nearly all home health agencies I've contacted are looking for CNA's whether they are new grads or not. Do a google search on home health care in your area.

Specializes in Urology, LTC, acute care, Primary Care.

I live in Charlotte, NC I'm a CNAII making 16.00/hr base 1.50 weekends

Specializes in CNA/ ALF & Hospital.

How R my fellow CNA's doing 2day? I have that same question but for Tennessee pay rate. But to be specific, I wouldlike to know what it is for SNF, ALF and Hospital in Anderson County in Tennessee! In macon ,Georgia, you are getting 7.60 an hour!:twocents::nurse:

the last place I was workin at in Vista, california the pay rate was 12/hour, pretty good

In Oregon the min wage is $8.40 an hour and even an unlicensed, but trained NA will get at least $9, but a beginning CNA at least $10.

I don't know of any hospitals or docs who hire CNAs, only LTC or nursing facilities, so the rate is $10-$12 depending on you and where their funding comes from.

We have a CNA2 category here where once you are licensed as a CNA, you take a further course in a hospital setting. Those start $12-$14. They are not trained for blood draws in the course as outlined by the state, but the are allowed to be trained by their hospital to do so is my understanding. Or let's put it this way: if you're in the hospital, it's likely that a CNA2 will be drawing your blood, but no CNA 2 I've spoken to teaches it. Clear as mud, right?

I'll start working at a Hospital in Detroit, MI as a PCA/CNA next week and the starting pay is 12.53/hr
