CNA hourly pay rate?

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Hello.

I'm trying to apply for this nursing home near my house.

but i'm not sure what to put for desired rate of pay.

so..

what is the average pay rate for starting cnas?

i looked up and they are giving me different rate.

thanks

In Western NC, home health starts around $8.00 an hour and nursing homes start around minimum wage or just a tad above. There is a local assisted living home that only pays minimum.

1997 I got my CNA - I made 6.50 an hour.. In 2002 When I quit working as a CNA I made 10.50 an hour. I'm now going back to CNA classes.. I've had children and my CNA expired, and I need work! So I'm excited to see how much I will make this time around.. I will not go any lower than 11/hour.

In FL around 10-12 depending...more in hospitals....

I work in an "Assisted Living" facility and my first job out of school started me at 12.00 an hour ... I was told when looking for a place to work, go with a place that has many facilities, a corporation. And, also a place that offers tuition reimbursement so you can go onto nursing school, and have career growth. I don't think I'm allowed to tell you where I work on a public forum, but if you do your research you'll find some really good places. I work for a place that has 430 other assisted livings throughout the United States. I LOVE it !

I live in Southeastern PA. When I first started back in 2004-2005, I was paid $9.72 an hour. The pay was a bit low, but they offered a full benefit package as well as paid vacation/sick time. My last position at an LTC in 2008 I was as a pool/floater and was paid $13 an hour during the week and $14 an hour for weekends. No medical benefits or I would have had to take a $3 pay cut!

I live in Niagara Falls, NY...0 experience (newly certified :dncgbby:) but i just hired at the hospital near my house, the hospital has a nursing home within it, I'm starting at $10.71/hour with a .38 shift diff. Got benes and all that good stuff, I'm just kindal disappointed because in about 3 months after I get off probation I'm going to put in a bid to get transferred to the hospital side(doing float shift in er,medi/surgi, and icu) and I just found out the starting is one .01 higher..but the hospital side offers 100% tuiton assistance for FT cna's so that made me pretty happy!

Probation? I wouldnt even be allowed in my CNA course at my college if I had this.

I'm thinking she means probation at work. You know, a lot of places have a 90 day probation period. Maybe I'm wrong but that's what I'm thinking.

In the central texas area, nursing homes will pay about $8-10, hospitals 10-$14. Of course, the closer to the Austin metro area, the greater the pay. I would focus on smaller hospitals such as Long term Acute Care and Rehab hospitals. Such facilities are low on reputation, hard on work, but high in pay. I diversified my skills so that I am a Monitor Tech (watching EKG), CNa, and some unit clerking and get paid at $12/hr. i know of some of the long experienced veterans being paid as high as $18 with some LVN/med aide skills.

I just got hired at a hospital without experience and without a CNA license (Currently on my 1.5 years of nursing student) for $13.50 and $14.50 for weekends in the subs of Chicago.

Wow thats great! Im trying to submit an app to volunteer until I get my Certificate CNA at my local hospital near my house in FL Palms West. Maybe I should just go ahead and do what you did.

Here in Long Island, NY you can make up to $18.75 an hour. That's what my friend is making at a nursing home.
