CNA Classes

Hello everyone, I've been trying to find CNA classes around my shoool, since my school does not offer them. I go to Saint Xavier University on the southside of Chicago, I'm currently a Nursing student and thought it would be a good idea to become a CNA first. So anyone that knows of any classes being offered around the southside of chicago please let me know! Thanks!:wink2:

I don't anywhere specifically in Chicago, but I would check out community colleges and technical schools in your area. They usually offer CNA training. I took my CNA class through the American Red Cross. That might be another option to check out.

Not sure how it works in your state but usually after your first semester of nursing school you should be able to work as a cna/tech at a hospital. Check it out before you spend any money ok

    good luck

In GA, I know that you do not have to take the cna test. You just work as a patient care assistant/student nurse. I am certified in GA and SC, but several of my classmates work as pca/sn's and never took the certification test.

Are you a nursing major or nursing student? Because I know that in order to even apply or get into the professional sequence, in other words get into nursing school, at Xav's you need to be a CNA. They offer it there in the summer prior to beginning the sequence. Other wise there is a less expensive alternative at Samland at 102nd and Western Ave. West side of the street. CNA in 5 weeks.

Did u ever fiind a school to take CNA classes. I am an former resident of Chicago, and I know u can check out The Public Aid office they alway's Tech schools that they can hook u up with. Or try the unemployment office Job placement services and training. You may qualify to receive payment while going to classes thru financial aid. And if that fails, Try Triton College in River Grove, Il I know they have a CNA program. You could also call around some nursing homes that have their own train/work as u learn programs and they offer the certification on site. Oak brook terrace nursing home is one and Elmhurst convalescent center is another. I do not remember these phone numbers but they are both located in the western suburbs. You may call directory assistance to obtain the numbers. Good luck in your search send me a message and let me know the progress in your search.
