Hey y'all.

I have my boards on election day (November 6th) and since all states are different, I would like to hear about Cali CNA's and their experiences.

So, tell me all about it... I'm excited and nervous...

Everyone got handwashing. I made a minor mistake and she helped me. I had donning and doffing gown and gloves. I didn't know that I would also have to know where to dispose of the gown. (In patients room). I may have had denture or some other kind of facial care. Something on the bed and something to do with the sink. This was last Dec.

Thanks for your reply - I know everyone gets handwashing, as a default.I'm interested in what skills of the 25 people got, so I can get as ready as possible. Thanks!

Hey I just took the boards with my ROP class in September. Everyone has handwashing... I also had weight as my measurement skill, ROM on the left leg/knee, assist with compression stocking, and hand care. Everything went really smooth for me. A few of my fellow students didn't pass because of radial pulse! I was surprised because we all took that skill for granted thinking how easy that is but there is only a two-count margin for error. Just make sure if you get that one, you tell the RN when you are ready. The testing RN that failed the students told them when SHE was starting! It was very stressful but just go into auto pilot and do what you would and you should be fine. Make sure you talk everything out! That will help.

I think I had range of motion. Either I or my partner did. One trick our CNA instructor taught us was to appear confident. Patient safety and privacy is more important than perfection.

I agree with what vintagemother stated. Patient safety, infection control, and privacy as well as communicating with the "patient" as you are performing tasks is key. One thing that helped me was to remember my training and act as if I was not being tested and was simply performing resident/patient care as part of my job. Helped with the nerves immensely. Good luck!

Thanks, everyone! After receiving my clinical evaluation - I feel way more competent and confident. Additionally my instructor is also a director of CNA/HHA for Kaiser, so I feel exceptionally prepared.

Hello :) I did my certification a while ago almost a year? If I remember correctly we all had hand washing. I had to help a bed side patient get ready for there day (brushing there teeth, morning bath etc etc) and the final one which was the one I was exteremly scared to do as we didntget a chance to practice it in clinicals (as we had no patients who were always in bed) I had to make a bed with a imobile patient on it. It was challenging because the proctor I got was a total Butterfly :sarcastic: all in all I passed with flying colors. one of the happiest days of my life.

Were are you taking your test? I did mine in Fresno almost missed it after getting lost. Also take your scrubs with you! I went and took the written and lab test wearing a v neck and jeans, While every one else (2 other schools along with mine) were wearing scrubs -_-
