Are there CNA's on maternity floor?

  1. Hello......I was just curious if there are CNA's on the maternity dept. of a hospital?

    Thanks!

Hi, Kim. It depends on the facility. While I attended nursing school I worked as a nursing assistant in the maternal-child-health department at a local hospital. I primarily worked in the postpartum (or mother-baby) unit but sometimes worked in Peds and L&D....I could not "scrub in" in L&D so my time there was limited to stocking and helping in other ways.
This was a great way for me to get into a hospital (who later hired me as an RN upon graduation) and to explore what type of unit I wanted to work in after school.
    Good luck!
