I presently work in a nursing home, and I just find it very hectic for myself. I just got a job for a home care agency who is going to pay my $2 more an hour than I make now. I just wanted to know people's opinions on home care vs. nursing home care. I am starting nursing school in the fall, so I was also thinking that this can offer a more flexible schedule than a nursing home. Any opinions will be great!:twocents:

I currently work at an assisted living facility, but they should add "/nursing home" to the end of it, because that's basically what it's turning into. Nursing home work is HARD work, but can be very rewarding. I'm actually thinking of getting into home health care myself, because I will also be attending school in the fall and it would work better work my schedule.

Did you already take the home health care job? Good luck in whatever you decide!

Nursing home work is HARD! I agree with you there, but it is rewarding. I really care about the residents I take care of. The pay is horrid, however, and it's really exhausting...and the gas prices are killing me. I did take the home care job, they are paying me more as well. I have orientation on Thursday the 29th. They told me to keep my other job for now, as they cannot always guarentee a lot of hours, so I will do that for now :) I think it will be more laid back working with only one person.
