in order to streamline the threads on this topic, i ask that everyone that passes their nursing assistant certification test to please post it in this thread as oppose to starting a separate one. i appreciate everyone's help with this.

:redlight: congratulations to all the cna's out there! :redlight:

thank you,

jay

I passed my cna class last July, but haven't been able to get on at the hospital. I'm male and not sure if that has anything to do with it. Maybe I can talk to a nursing home about getting trained up. I loved my class though and I'm taking prenursing at a junior college.

:yeah:SOOOOOO happy I passed my CNA exam!!! I was nervous but I pulled through. Now....finding a job :vlin:

I passed both my skills and written test!

Specializes in geriatrics, dementia, ortho.

Congratulations, all! I just passed mine today as well & it's been a long road ... I worked extra homecare shifts on top of my facility job to save up for the class, went 6 weeks of working 2-10 M-F and then classes from 2-10 on Saturdays and Sundays. Now I'm certified, will get a raise at work (was an uncertified caregiver before) and will have no more school or tests until September - woohoo!!!!

I passed a while ago forgot to post

I got hand washing, respirations, denture care, position on left side and dress client with affected right arm.

I almost failed it again because the denture cup already had water in it and i poured it out with the dentures still in them and

she made an awful sound like "EHMM!!!" I just keept doing the skill and when i go to the end i said ok the only thing i would do

different is pour it out the water safer.

I felt so bad because my partner who is also my friend who failed with me the first time failed it again. And i had studied with her so many times. It was just her nerves I watched her go completely out of it all of a sudden her mind went blank and she didnt know what to do her breathing was crazy ( when i did respirations on her it was 39!) Im surprised the instructor didnt try to calm her down.

It could have easily been me 2

Congrats to you. We had to do our skills in front of our instructor and I was so nervous on my first skill, assisting with a bedpan, I placed the bedpan wrong. She let me do it again and I placed it wrong again. We are doing clinicals starting Wednesday for 10 days and then we will be back in class for 6 days and then it will be test time. I am ready to get it over with and I pray I pass the first time. :uhoh3:

I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got bed pan, making an occupied bed, anti-embolism stocking, and isolation gown & gloves.

Specializes in Medical-Surgical, Telemetry.

I passed last month, on May 12! :D I took my older sister as my skill volunteer. I got partial bed bath, shampoo hair in bed, denture care and dressing patient with a weak side. I just turned in an application today for a CNA position at the hospital my mom works at. I think they're looking for someone with experience, so I may have to start out at a nursing home, or look into HHC. I start nursing school in August, I'm terrified, but I hope to graduate as an RN in May 2013!!

Yay officially a STNA!!!

Skills: Handwashing, Denture Care, Occupied Bed, Vest Restraint in Bed & Antiembolic Stocking

Specializes in I'm 48, and continuing nursing education.

:clpty::smiley_aa:flwrhrts:*wine:anpom::ancong!:Hello fellow and future CNA's! Passed my written exam 2 months ago and passed my manual skills yesterday after failing the 1st time 2 months ago. :heartbeat:D:lol2::yeah::up:The written part was pretty simple if using the "common sense" answers. I'm pretty sure the manual skills are nerve-wracking for a large percentage of students. :idea:Most important advice I can give to "pre-exam" students is practice, practice, practice!!! I reviewed my skills over and over at home, using a large body pillow as a patient. Grab any items around your house for props that closely resemble the real supplies. If during your practicing you realize you forgot a step, START ALL OVER right away!! And finally, when at the testing center, do your best to CALM  yourself down, and if there are any steps you keep forgetting, say those keys words to yourself right before the manual exam. Most instructors will help out with "reminders" during the skills to help you along. Trust me, I have severe anxiety issues and if I can pass, ANYBODY can! So onto the next hard part of being a CNA, finding a job :nurse:. It feels so good to have accomplished the education and a great motivation for those who really enjoy the medical career. Best of luck everyone!!:redpinkhe

Took my skills on Wednesday after failing the first one about three months ago. I don't feel very confident but lets seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...........I called up the CNA office and they told me that I have to wait 5 to 10 days for results...sucks because I need to pass it by the end of next week...pray for me guys
