CNS in perioperative, plastics or hyperbaric oxygen?

by 92mxmom

I am looking to start an MSN CNS program soon and also looking at a job change. I have been at a ambulatory surgery center for 11 years and work in the office setting as well as pre-op and PACU. I also prepare and review pre-op charts. I also work PRN in the ED (not sure I'd like it FT).

I am thinking of applying for a position at a local hyperbaric oxygen facility (would be FT).

I would like to be able to incorporate my "working" knowledge into the CNS program and since acquiring my MSN is going to affect my long term/future employment possiblities, I thought I should take different specialties I am familiar with into consideration.

Are any of you out there CNS's practicing in perioperative or hyperbaric settings? And what are your responsibilities?

Thanks!

We have very few perioperative CNSs in NC. Two specific ones that I know of are at Moses Cone Hospitals in Greensboro, NC. Great resources. They don't deal with hyperbarics though.

Hyperbarics is VERY specialized and might limit your opportunities. I live in central IL and there is only one hyperbaric chamber here in this entire area.
