Thank you for correcting the spelling of her last name, you are correct, her blog is very informative and direct. I would like to see standardization issues as sometimes what is adapted for one type of provider is copied for another similar provide.

This is an article about "the plight of the psychiatric clinical nurse specialist"...worth reading for CNS..there are politics and participation needed to keep the CNS role active.Nursing Center - Journal Article

Thanks Tyloo. Its a very enlightening blog. Im certain many seminar discussions will be centered around the consensus model this coming semester of my program. Dr Goudreau breaks down the document and expectations nicely. Thankfully my program implemented the 3 Ps already and as the sole CNS student this go around I was encouraged to use the Core Competencies as a template to guide my clinical experiences. Kudos to WCSU!!!!

    Psychcns,

I am deeply disheartened that the Psych CNS role is being retired. I feel like there will be a loss for the mental health community, and especially with the loss of psychotherapy. It was eye opening because I thought that both Psychiatrists and Psych CNS's practice psychotherapy but I guess the new psychiatrists will not have the training for it? Unbelievable- there is more to health care then prescribing drugs. Furthermore the CNS community will lose out immensely. The Psych CNS specialty was the first CNS role ever which brought forth the other specialities for the CNS practice. Like the article pointed out- if you retire this one what about all the other specialities? This is truly sad.
