Hi there. I am hoping you can answer some questions for me. I am currently enrolled in the RN to MSN program with Excelsior but am strongly considering completing the BSN requirements and transfering to Chamberlain for the MSN/MBA program. After speaking with advisors from Chamberlain, I have a couple of concerns. Currently with EC I take five classes at a time (I am currently not working and have no children) and do quite well. I have completed the program in six months with great marks. I am concerned that I will have a lot of wasted time with Chamberlain as they only allow 2 classes per 8 weeks. Also, what do the weekly requirements look like? Are there exams or mainly papers? Are there any ridiculous projects that are done outside of the online course? Any light you can shed on the class structures would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your input.

I'm really impressed with Chamberlain at this point. My admission counselor is working with me to help prepare me for my upcomming classes. He's been very clear and responds very promptly. The financial aid dept has also been very willing to explain all options in a very uncomplicated kind of way. I start my BSN completion on Oct 25th and hopefully, if all goes well, will continue to their MSN program.

Thanks seasoned....I'm finished :)

Robbind I feel that all of the coursework was very straightforward. Each class uses a grading rubric that is easy to follow. There were many weeks when all I did was make two substantial postings and I got full credit for them (although be sure to use a reference in at least one posting each week). My courses through devry required I log in and post on 3 separate days. As far as writing papers it really depends on your instructor, but if you follow the rubric and include all parts in your papers you will do fine. Use your resources and contact your instructor if you have questions! My classes that were credited were approved prior to admission, with no changes.

Good luck to everyone starting classes oct 25th!

I will begin this program on May 2nd. Is there anyone else beginning soon or just began this program? How is it?

What classes will you guys be starting out with? I think they are starting me with a nursing class and a sociology class, I'll have to go look at the exact names. I am VERY nervous because even though I am not working right now, I have two little bitty kiddos that make it very hard for me to do anything else but take care of them! Here's hoping!:D

You will be fine! I graduated from the RN-BSN program last June. The Transitions class and Soc are good to do together and get out the way. Just try and stay on top of the papers and be sure to be active on the discussion boards (those discussion board points add up!). I was not working either and the program was totally doable. I'm starting the MSN program in May. I was in an FNP program at another school but decided to transfer back to Chamberlain for their MSN. You will love the program and if you have any questions please ask. There are quite a few of us who who have graduated from there and post here. Good luck!

Thank you so much Sue!

I asked about the MSN bridge and my advisor acted like it was no biggie...that most people start with the BSN and if they do want to pursue the bridge they just switch over to that a few months in. I guess they want to see first if you have the committment for the BSN at least. He is saying doing it this way won't hurt me and I can easily switch. He said most get their BSN and then get a raise and then start MSN but I told him I am not working right now and don't know really when I wll be full time. That is why I really don't want to pay for extra classes. As it is, I am paying I thought % financial aid, grants, out of pocket...it would be nice to have an MSN when I emerge from taking care of kiddos all day and can actually work again.;)

Do you think it is actually that easy? I did NOT want to start the online BSN if it meant that once I started to pursue a Masters I'd have to take more classes...One thing was cool though, I had so many credits that I only have to take classes! So they are saying one year to graduate even if I am a half time student! COOL

Thanks!!:redpinkhe

I am starting with Soc350 and NR351. I have 3 children (11, 8 and 6) and have cut my work hours down to 2 days/wk. I am super nervous, but I have been lurking on this board and reading what everyone posts about Chamberlain for quite awhile :)

Just finished my 1st semester, Transitions and Soc 1st 8 weeks, lots of papers and postings but doable, just follow the rubic and will be fine, Algebra and Health assessment just finishing, loved health assessment, good review. Taking statistics and Information Systems 5/2, any advise, worried about statistics have heard nothing but how hard class is, very worried.

I thought Stats was easy if you watch the live lecturer every week. He spoon-feeds the material to you. It does take up a lot of time compared to the other classes, however I've found all the DeVry classes seem to be a bit overly-time consuming. I start health assessment in May, any advice?
