Anyone know anything about this place?

I know the money sucks, but it's a lot cheaper than anywhere. The only cheap way to get a BSN is UIC but that is almost impossible to get into. Hospitals are really starting to prefer BSN nurses too, so you're almost better just paying the extra money. The education is worth it. I'm about to start Med/Surg, and I can't tell you how much work I do. How much time I've put in for this place. ESPECIALLY when clinicals start. I'm going to be broke by the time I finish, but it'll be worth it. I work 2 days a week, and I'm volunteering 1 day a week. I have no life, but I love it. I know money is a big part of it, but remember the education is what counts.

Specializes in Med Surg.

I am planning to take the HESI in about 2 weeks. I got the study guide that they recommended. If I just study that should I do well? I have heard mixed reviews regarding the study guide. Anyone have any advice?

when i took the Hesi A2, I studied from the study guide and from a Kaplan nursing entrance exam book. The study guide was pretty much accurate for the english and reading. But I further studied with the kaplan book for the science and math. So I recommend the study guide and Kaplan nursing entrance study guide. Good luck!

I agree the money is worth it 100% but not way is it worth it if you are paying for it twice and doing all the work twice. I couldn't see taking all of those classes again. I will get my BSN but somewhere that doesn't pick apart my hard earned bachelors degree and decide what I should take all over again. I only got As and Bs in school and worked hard for those, not doing that again.

I agree that the BSN is what you need to move up. You make the same money as a person with an ADN but you have more choices to move up. I will probably want to get my MSN because by the time I am done, MSN is going to be the standard.

Good luck!!!

Quick question.....In the event to uphold academic integrity, is it mandatory for students at Chamberlain take an exam upon completion of each nursing course? Thanks in advance.

We do take a HESI exam at the end of each course. I have one for my fundamentals course in 3 weeks as well as my assessment class. So to answer your question, yes we do. It is online and taken at school.

dmfisher86,

Thanks for the response.

Hi all,

I was wondering has anyone gotten accepted yet.

Does anyone know how strict they are when comes to ACT's cuz i looked at the website and they said you need atleast a 21 but I got a 19 :crying2: i dont think I can really do much about it now.

As far as GPA, i currently have a 2.57 i know you need a 2.75. I still taking my pre-req. so I still have time to raise it up.

I plan to apply probably sometime in 2010, atleast until I get my gpa up.

I know my chances are very low right now but i do plan to get my gpa up to atleast a 3.0. Im just worried about my ACT's. Does anyone know how they look at that?

Also, does anyone know how they feel about students taking the class again? I did really bad in ANAT 1, I got a D :crying2: but i am retaking it now and so far i am currently holding an A hoping to keep it there. back to what i was saying has anyone asked about that?

Hello everyone,

I have just taken the written exam last night, I am going back to school I already had my first bachelors in Interior Design. The way the economy is right now you know design is not on everyones mind. So i decided to go back to what i loved the medical field. Chamberlain seemed the best fit. I still have to take my A2 exam.

Any advice?

I never took the ACTs or SATs. I had enough community college credit to transfer to a university without it and got a BA. I had a 3.28 GPA and no ACTs and they accepted me. I declined for reasons I wrote a bunch about earlier. As for the GPA, I know they are pretty big on that but taking over classes, it shouldn't matter. They just take the higher grade but I would just make a call over there to a counseler and ask them. They are pretty good at answering stuff and they might be okay with the ACT score. There might be some wiggle room depending on how you do on the HESI A2 entrance exam.

Good luck!!

Hi there. I have a BA too and wanted to change careers. You will want to get an audit of your college transcripts. I had mine done AFTER I applied and paid for and took the HESI A2 exam and found that they have a neat little rule over there. They look at the classes you took at your college and then if the "description" your college gives and the "description" that Chamberlain gives are not at least 80% the same (HEllo, subjective) you get to take the class again for $600.00 per credit hour. They had quite a few classes for me to take over to the tune of about an extra $20,000.00 I decided not to pay. Plus who wants to do the same college classes again?? I was accepted and I will tell you about the HESI A2 exam. It was the only fair thing that they had.

Buy the HESI A2 guide book online for about 20 bucks. You can get in on Amazon. Practice that but they don't have enough to practice. The English, vocab, etc you already know or not. don't know how to study for that. But the math, A&P, chemistry, biology you should look at. I also used Kaplin's book on nursing exams. It is harder than the test, especially the math but a good tool. The math you will have is 8th grade math, conversions, division, mult, etc. really easy stuff. Chemistry wasn't bad. I never took it in my life and did well. The A&P was hard for me after getting an A in 2 classes of A&P. All in all I got a 92% and I really put too much worry into it. It's long so be prepared to be there 3-4 hours. Study for a month or so, a bit each day and then the week before the test, study more. Night before, I stopped studying and had a good night sleep and a big breakfast. You will do fine.

Ater turning them down I am going somewhere else and taking another type of entrance exam but they are all alike. At least I got to take the HESI A2 there so I don't have to be all nervous to take another exam. This school isn't making me take any classes over again.

Good luck, you will do fine, just relax about it but do get your transcripts to them to audit so you know if you want to spend the money to take tests and waste time. Wish I would have known.

Thank you LISAWANTSBSN. I feel much more better. I will def. give them a call and make an appt. with an advisor. Thanks again.
