Hello all...quick question: How valuable is the annual meeting for a first-year student (5 months in, 22 more to go.... )? I'm torn - I would absolutely love to be there, but am finding it difficult to grab the time between classes and clinicals. Do you think it is worth the major sacrifice for a student? Thanks for the advice......(past, present and future!)

I'd think your professors would have some valuable insight on this.

I'm assuming you're in graduate school ... but your advisors/department heads may have a way out for those in clinicals. At my program, we are all allowed to go, without it counting against our clinical time/class time. And pretty much EVERYONE is going!

Ask about it ... 5 months doesn't seem like too short of a time before going to the annual meeting.

Yep...just to clarify, am a first year SRNA, and faculty did make a statement saying if we thought we could go, it would be worthwhile....an endorsement, but not a "you need to be there" statement. They are, however, VERY pro AANA...(I guess that goes without saying). Thanks! any other viewpoints?

Going to the Annual Meeting?

Let me be perfectly clear-GO TO THE MEETING!!!!!!!!! You will see an entirely different side to your future profession-GO TO THE MEETING!!!!!!! Classes and clinical will still be there when you get back-GO TO THE MEETING!!!!!! Network, network, network-GO TO THE MEETING!!!!!!!!

Annual meeting

I would have to agree. I am in my first year of a three year program and this will be my third AANA conference. It's wonderful and they really welcome their students. I have found the conferences to be of great value.
